ISSUE 01 · INTERACTIVE EDITION
A new way of reading, built on forty-one years of making magazines.
FROM THE EDITOR
Our family has worked in media for forty-one years; making magazines isn’t a new venture for us, it’s our core business. Today we are adding AI on top of that work. The goal isn’t to leave paper behind, but to give the printed page what it could never do on its own.
A reader with full hands can’t read that page, but they can listen to it. When they scan the code, the article opens as audio; there’s no app to download.

FEATURE · SMART MEDIA
A printed page is a fixed surface, but what it opens doesn’t have to be. We can change the content behind it even after the paper has gone to print, because the address printed on the page is a short redirect that we own.

FEATURE · ASSISTANT
When readers finish an article, they’re often left with a question, and that question usually goes unasked. The assistant on the facing page is trained only on this issue’s content and answers from it.
Trained on your brand’s own knowledge, the same assistant also handles product questions, dealer questions and trade show questions.

FEATURE · VOICE QUESTION
You don’t have to type the question that comes to mind while you read. Just lift your phone and ask; the magazine answers with the same issue’s knowledge, and you hear the answer.
Speech recognition runs on the phone’s own engine; no audio is sent to a server. Tap the microphone on the facing page to try it.

FEATURE · WHERE YOU STAND
A publishing operation doesn’t go interactive in a single step. Most magazines are also published digitally, but the printed page is still silent, and measurement usually stops at circulation.
The four questions on the facing page help you see where you stand. Your answers stay with you and are never sent anywhere.

FEATURE · PRODUCT FILM
A code on the page doesn’t always have to open an article. Often the best way to explain a product is a short film: the pack opens, the formula separates, the effect becomes visible.
The film on the facing page was produced with 3D animation and cinematic footage. The printed page introduces the product; the code takes readers to watch what it actually does.

BACK COVER
If you have a printed magazine, catalog or newsletter, we build this layer on top of it. There’s no need to change the way you print.

THE PRINT SIDE
Putting a single code in a magazine means giving up on knowing which article gets read. Separate codes, separate metrics.
No landing page, no wall of text repeating the printed article. Readers have already seen the article; what they expect from the code is what comes next.
“Listen to this article” and “Scan the QR code” are not the same thing. Without a reason, scan rates drop.
What goes to print is a short redirect that we manage. If the destination changes, the redirect is updated, so the printed page still opens the right content years later.
Because every code has its own address, you can see how many times each page was opened. For the first time, print advertising can be reported on.
The same text produces both the printed page’s code destination and the screen page. There’s no need to manage two separate sets of content.
NEXT STEP
Share the copy for the pieces going to print, and together we’ll decide which pages get codes, what opens behind them and what gets measured.
